Descendants of Clement Maxfield
of Dorchester, Massachusetts
Third Generation

It IS NOT PROVEN that Ichabod Maxfield was a son of Samuel. He is placed here because: This web site will welcome any further information that could help to identify Ichabod's parents. Contact Charles A. Maxfield

Ichabod Maxfield could be a son of Samuel Maxfield and his first wife Mary Davenport.

ICHABOD3 MAXFIELD (Samuel2, Clement1) married MARY GODFREY at Taunton, Massachusetts, on 12 August 1713 (VR Tau 2:333). Nothing more is known of this marriage.

Ichabod Maxfield married, second, at Dorchester, Massachusetts, on 28 October 1725 DORCAS BROWN (BRC 21:112). They were both from Dorchester; the Rev. Mr. John Danforth performed the ceremony. Dorcas Brown, daughter of John Brown, was born at Dorchester on 3 May 1689 (BRC 21:34).

Dorcas (Brown) Maxfield died at Dorchester on 24 April 1727, and was buried there, in her 38th year (BRC 21:133; GR 5:257).

After the death of his second wife, Ichabod married again. He married at Milton, Massachusetts, on 8 May 1729, SARAH TRESCOTT of Milton (VR Milt, 149;BRC 36:162).

Could this be the Ichabod Maxfield who paid a tax bill of £ 1-07-02 in the North Parish of Lebanon, Connecticut in 1741 (GR 20:46)?

Ichabod Maxfield and his second wife Dorcas had the following child:

  1. THOMAS4 MAXFIELD
    • b. at Dorchester on 18 April 1727 (BRC 21:78)
