JOHN 4 MAXFIELD (John3, Samuel2, Clement1) , son of John Maxfield and his wife Elizabeth Hall, was born at Dorchester, Massachusetts, on 3 October 1703(BRC 21:48). He was called John Maxfield Junior until his father's death. This younger John Maxfield died in Dorchester on 8 September 1760 (BRC 21:254).

John Maxfield married RUTH BLAKE at Dorchester on 1 December 1726 (BRC 21:112). She was the daughter of Joseph and Mahetabel Blake, born at Dorchester on 20 December 1702 (BRC 21:47). She died there on 27 October 1780 (BRC 21:267).

John and Ruth Maxfield had the following children:
