EUGENE6 MAXFIELD (Isaac5, Benjamin4, Joseph3-2, John1) was born at Wisconsin on March 1856, a child of Isaac and Melinda Maxfield. He died on 30 January 1892.[1] Eugene married at Monterey, Allegan County, Michigan, on 14 August 1879 EMMA W. SHIPP,[2] who was born at Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio, on 9 August 1862 and died at Monterey on 1 May 1926.[3] Emma maried second at Holton, Muskegon County, Michigan, on 7 September 1893 EDWARD EVERETT PIERCE,[4] who was born at Allegan County on 21 December 1860 and died there on 4 September 1948.[5]

The fourth of four children, Eugene lived in early childhood in Wisconsin. Sometime between the ages of four and fourteen his family moved across Lake Michigan to Allegan County. Eugene and Emma married in 1879. In 1880 the census reported them in the home of his mother Malinda, where Eugene was farming.[6]

Eugene died in 1892, leaving Emma with a nine year old daughter. A year and a half later Emma married Edward Pierce. The 1900 Census reported them at Monterey:[7]

Edward and Emma had been married six years, and Emma had one child, who was living.

Eugene Maxfield and his wife Emma W. Shipp had the following children:

  1. FRANKLIN7 MAXFIELD b. at Monterey on 16 June 1880,[8] d. there on 29 August 1880.[9]
  2. MAUD7 MAXFIELD b. at Monterey on 20 November 1882,[10] d. there on 23 February 1949;[11] m. there on 29 November 1917 HARRY D. WILCOX[12] b. at Monterey on 1881, d. on 1951.[13]
