William and Mary Maxfield appeared in the 1870 Census (1111:1:569B) at Whitehall village, Washington County, New York. William, age 34, was called a "cartman" with a personal estate of $200, born in New York. Mary, age 25, was born in England, and her parents were foreign born. Children John and Eva were ages 5 and 2 respectively.
