LAUREN MANLEY6 MAXFIELD (David5, Currier4, Joshua3, Joseph2, John1) was born at Goshen, New Hampshire, on 6 November 1840 (NMGR 8:17), to David Carr Maxfield and his wife Thankful Hurd Cutts. He moved to Minnesota about 1856 (Mn census 1895:106:334)
At Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lauren married MARY ELIZABETH LYONS on 6 September 1863 (NMGR 8:17). Mary was born at Cherry Creek, New York, on 3 March 1845 (NMGR 8:17).
Lauren served in the Union Army in the Civil War (Civ W Sol). He enlisted on 17 August 1864 at the age of 23 as a Corporal, was assigned to Company D, 11th Infantry Regiment Minnesota, and discharged at Saint Paul on 26 June 1865.
The 1870 census (Mille Lacs Co., 7) reported this family at Greenwood Township (Princeton P.O.), Mille Lacs County, Minnesota, listed next to the household of his brother George. This family consisted of L. M., 29, male, farmer, born New Hampshire, M. E., 25, female, keeping house, born New York, E. M., 5, female, born Minnesota, and David, 3, male, born Minnesota.

In 1885 (Mn census 37:46) the family was at Mounds View, Ramsey County, Minnesota, consisting of L. M., 43, Mary, 40, Ida, 20, Mary, 1, and nephew Elmer Babb, 24. The family moved to Wright County, Minnesota, in 1888, and was reported in 1895 (106:334) at Delano, Wright County. L. M., 54, was described as a resident of the state 39 years, resident of that location 7 years, a general mechanic and veteran soldier. The family included Mary E., 50, mary A., 11, and A. H. Lyons, 89, male, born New York, resident of the state 40 years and the location 4 years.
The 1900 Census (798:1:114) reported the family in Delano village, Franklin Township, Wright County, Minnesota:

The census record further stated that Lauren and Mary had been married 36 years, and that Mary had four children, of whom only one was still living.
Mary (Lyons) Maxfield died at Delano, Minnesota, on 11 February 1902 (NMGR 8:17).
The 1910 census (1284:1:285B) reported Lauren M. Maxfield, widower, 69, living with his daughter and son-in-law, Chet C. and Mary A. Geer, at South Silverton Precinct, Marion County, Oregon. Chet and Mary, ages 26 and 25, had been married one year. Chet was a farmer, and Lauren worked on the farm.
Lauren Maxfield was reported twice in the 1920 Census: with his daughter Mary in Woodburn, Marion County, Oregon (1497:12B), and with his brother George at 2017 Open Front Street, Santa Monica, Los Angeles County, California (116:2B). The Oregon record indicated Lauren's son-in-law, Chet C. Geer, age 36, was a plumber, Mary (Maxfield) Geer, age 35, was a music teacher, and they had one child. Both records gave Lauren's age as 79; brother George, also a widow, was 76. Lauren M. Maxfield died at Woodburn, Oregon, on 13 February 1924 (NMGR 8:17).
