DAVID BRIGGS7 MAXFIELD (Caleb6, Zadock5, Edmund4, Timothy3-2, John1) was born at New Bedford, Massachusetts, on 3 October 1843 (VR NB 1:323), a child of Caleb Maxfield and his first wife Ann Briggs.

David Maxfield married EMMA F. GRAY at New Bedford on 19 October 1871 (VR Ma 235:120:156; NB Merc M 787). The record stated:

David B. Maxfield of New Bedford, 28, clerk, b. New Bedford to Caleb and Ann, 1st;
Emma F. Gray of New Bedford, 23, b. New Bedford to Gilbert C. and Mary R., 1st;
by O. A. Roberts, clergyman.

We learn from this that Emma was born at New Bedford about 1847/8 to Gilbert C. and Mary R. Gray.

This family was reported in the 1880 Census (525:112B) at 51 Foster Street, New Bedford as follows:

David Maxfield died at New Bedford on 10 November, 1886 (VR Ma 373:139:623; Rural Cem, NB), and was buried at Rural Cemetery, New Bedford. His death was recorded as follows:

New Bedford, Nov 10, 1886: David B. Maxfield, male, married, 43 y, consumption, res+d 72 Sycamore St, New Bedford, clerk, b. New Bedford to Caleb and Anna B., he b New Bedford, she b. Dartmouth
Emma (Gray) Maxfield married JAMES L. PARKHURST at Rochester, Massachusetts, on 5 December 1888 (VR Ma 388:165:432; 389:404:9).

David and Emma Maxfield had the following child:
