WILLIAM H.7 MAXFIELD (William6, David5, Edmund4, Timothy3-2, John1) was born at New Bedford, Massachusetts, on 28 February 1837 (VR NB 1:324). His parents were William Maxfield and his wife Maria P. Bourne.

William H. Maxfield married ASHA ANNA SWIFT at New Bedford on 1 May 1871 (VR Ma 235:114:44). The marriage was recorded as follows:

by O. A. Roberts, clergy
Asha Anna was born at New Bedford (marriage record), on 6 November 1842 (Oak Gr Cem E-14), a child of Thaddeus W. and Elizabeth M. Swift.

William Maxfield was called a painter in the 1860 Census, in his 1871 marriage record, and in the 1872, 1875 and 1879 birth records of his children.

The 1880 Census (525:137B) reported this family at New Bedford as follows:

William H. Maxfield died at New Bedford on 26 July 1885 (VR Ma 364:139:467; July 7 on Oak Gr Cem E-14):

He was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, New Bedford, on 28 July 1885. His widow lived on for over fifty more years. She was reported in the 1900 Census (637:9B) at 137 Chestnut Street, New Bedford, with her three daughters. The 1910 Census (578:5A) reported them at 137 Willis Avenue. In the 1920 Census (686:2A) and 1930 Census (891:6A) she and her three daughters were living at 85 Campbell Syreet. Maria was a dress maker in 1900 and 1910, on the staff at the public library in 1920, 1930. Ida was a clerk for the license commission. Minerva was a "typewriter" in 1900, a secretary at the public library in 1910, 1920 and 1930.

Asha Maxfield died at 85 Campbell Street, New Bedford, on 19 November 1936, age 94 years and 13 days (Oak Gr Cem E-14). She was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, New Bedford, on 22 November 1936.

William H. and Asha Anna Maxfield had the following children:
