SAMUEL7 MAXFIELD (William6-5, David4, probably Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Fairfax, Vermont, on 16 September 1816 (VR Fairfax, VR VT), a child of William Maxfield and his first wife Sophia.

Samuel Maxfield married DOLLY L. BLAKE probably some time before 1838. Dolly was born at Georgia, Vermont on 22 November 1817 (VT VR), child of Jonathan and Sally (Basford) Blake.

The Samuel Maxfield family was reported living at Fairfax at every census from 1840 through 1880. In each census they were a household of two. Samuel was a farmer.

Fairfax Land records indicate that Samuel sold some land to Melvin V. Parker on 4 September 1841 (Fairfax Deeds 10:405-06), and received 6 acres of land from his father William Maxfield on 14 September 1842 (Fairfax Deeds 10:512).

Samuel Maxfield died at Fairfax on 12 April 1887 (Fairfax Gen). Widow Dolly Maxfield married at Georgia, Vermont, on 22 December 1889 L. K. BLAIR (VR Georgia 189). Dolly (Blake) (Maxfield) Blair died at Fairfax on 20 November 1892 (VT VR).

Samuel Maxfield and his wife Dolly Blake had two children, both of whom died in childhood:

  1. EVELINA8 MAXFIELD
    • b. at Fairfax about May/June 1838 (age 10 months at death)
    • d. at Fairfax on 6 April 1839 (VR VT)
  2. JULIUS8 MAXFIELD
    • b. 30 March 1843 (from age on death record)
    • d. at Fairfax on 25 June 1848 (VR VT)
