JOSEPHUS7 MAXFIELD (Nathan6, probably Eliphalet5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Vermont in 1828 (Bayside Cem), a child of Nathan Maxfield and his wife Lucinda Knowlton. The 1850 Census reported Josephus still living with his parents, at Franklin, Franklin County, New York, and described him as a farmer.
Josephus Maxfield moved West, and his marriage to MALISSA ________ is noted in the records of Oakland County, Michigan (Oakland Co VR). They lived at Waterford, Michigan. The 1860 Census (556:381) reported this family at Waterford, Oakland County, Michigan, listed next to his brother Elnathan:
