ISAAC7 MAXFIELD (Philo6, probably Henry5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Vermont about 1840 (1920 census; 1839/40 in 1850, 1860, 1870 censuses, 1840/1 in 1880, 1930 censuses), a child of Philo and Susanna Maxfield. Isaac moved with his family to Ohio before 1844.

Isaac Maxfield fought in the Civil War, receiving a disability discharge in 1863 (Civ War Sold):

Name: Isaac Maxfield, State: Ohio
Service Record : Enlisted as a Private on 19 Jun. 1861 at the age of 21
Enlisted in Company A, 7th Infantry Regiment Ohio on 19 Jun. 1861.
Received a disability discharge Company A, 7th Infantry Regiment Ohio on 16 Jan. 1863
Isaac Maxfield married URSINICE SMITH at Lake County, Ohio, on 7 July 1863 (Oh M IGI). Isaac and Ursinice had one child, in 1864. In the 1870 census Isaac is listed as married, but Ursinice is not living with him; in the 1880 census he is divorced.

The 1870 (1191:1:278B) census reported Isaac Maxfield, 30, laborer, and Charles, born at Michigan, age 6, living in Cleveland Ohio in the home of John and Martha Southworth [Could this be his sister?].

The 1880 census (1009:43C) reported Isaac, age 39, divorced, living with his brother Eugene at Brooklyn, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. According to this record, Isaac was in railroading, both his parents were born in New Hampshire.

The 1910 census (637:2:257A) reported Isaac Maxfield, a household of one, at Lake Township, Benzie County, Michigan, engaged in farming. Isaac is called a widower, he and both parents born in Vermont.

In 1920 (756:1B), Isaac Maxfield, 79, widower, no occupation, resided on Elm Street, Frankfort village, Crystal Lake Township, Benzie County.

The 1930 census (974:) found Isaac, a Civil War veteran, age 89, on the same street at Frankfort. This and the previous census gave his parents' birth states as Vermont; he first married at age 23.

I have no further information on Isaac or Ursinice Maxfield.
