EDWIN A.7 MAXFIELD (Minor6, probably Henry5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Vermont about 1834/5 (1860 census; 1836/7 in 1850 census), a child of Minor and Elvira Maxfield. Edwin migrated with his parents to New York by 1836, reported in Saratoga County in the 1840 census, and to Virginia between 1844 and 1848, reported at Prince William County in the 1850 census.

Sometime probably before 1858 Edwin Maxfield married ROBERTA, who was born at Virginia about 1833/4 (1860, 1870 censuses, 1834/5 in 1880 census).

The 1860 census (1373:497) reported the Edwin Maxfield family at Landsdowne Post Office, Prince William County, immediately after his mother Elvira:

Edwin Maxfield died before 1870, as Roberta was reported as a widow in that census (1673:1:378B) at Nokesville Post Office, Coles Township, Prince William County:

Sometime probably before 1873 Roberta married, as her second husband, JAMES W. KEYES, who was born at Virginia about 1834/5 (1880 census). They were living at Alexandria, Virginia, by 1880, as indicated by the following census record (1351:444D):
