JOSEPH ELLWELL8 MAXFIELD was born at Salem, Massachusetts, on 3 April 1860 a son of Joseph H. Maxfield and his first wife mary Eldridge. He died at Washington, D.C., on 14 April 1926. He married at Salem on 30 July 1884 HARRIET W. MANSFIELD. She was born at Salem on 5 January 1860 and died at Chicago, Illinois, on 4 December 1934.

Joseph Ellwell Maxfield and his wife Harriet Mansfield had the following children:

  1. JOSEPH PEASE9 MAXFIELD b. at San Francisco, California, on 28 December 1887.
  2. HENRY TUCKER9 MAXFIELD b. at Fort Riley, Geary County, Kansas, on 7 June 1892.
