The 1920 Census (1002:1B) reported Leonard D. Maxfield, single and living alone, engaged in farming at Eureka Township, Valley County, Nebraska. His entry followed immediately after his parents.

About 1922/3 Leonard Maxfield married BESSIE MABLE RINCK (full name from IGI). They were reported in the 1930 Census at Midvale Precinct, Garfield County, Nebraska, as follows:
