ROGER NEIMYER9 MAXFIELD (Rufus8, Arthur7, Jared6, Stephen5, Amos4, perhaps Joseph3, Joseph2, John1), was born at Lowell, Massachusetts, on 20 May 1929, a child of Rufus Atwood Maxfield, Jr., and his wife Louise Bertha Dupuis.

Roger Maxfield married first ELIZABETH M. HOLGATE. His second wife was GRACE MURPHY. Roger served in the army in Korea. He died at Hampton, New Hampshire, on 24 April 1905. All this information is derived from his obituary, which appeared in the Exeter News on 29 April 2005 (ancestry.com), and which follows:

Roger N. Maxfield Sr.
HAMPTON Roger N. Maxfield Sr., 75, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born May 20, 1929, in Lowell, Mass., the son of the late Rufus A. and Louis B. (Dupuis) Maxfield. He resided in Syracuse, N.Y., returning to Lowell in 1956.
He attended Morey School and Lowell High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving at the end of World War II during the occupation of Japan, and again during the Korean conflict serving as a combat medic. He held the rank of master sergeant, and was the recipient of the World War II Victory medal, the Army of Occupation medal, the Korean Service medal, three Bronze Service medals, the Distinguished Unit Citation medal and the Good Conduct medal.
Mr. Maxfield began his career with the city of Lowell as a plumber for the water department in 1956. He transferred to the Land & Buildings Department as a plumber and worked his way up to foreman. He became the deputy commissioner of Land & Buildings and the plumbing inspector. In 1989 he was appointed commissioner of Public Works, retiring in 1993 after 31 years of service. He also served as a plumbing and gas inspector for Dracut, Mass., from 1974 until 1993. He had previously been a pipe fitter for General Electric in Syracuse, N.Y.
He was a member of the Walker Rogers Post 662, Veterans of Foreign Wars; past commander of VFW Post 87 and headed the building committee after a fire in 1986; was a member of the Greater Lowell Korean War Veterans Association; the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Lowell Lodge No. 87; was a 32nd degree mason and a member of the William North Lodge A.F. & A.M.; and the Scottish Rite Bodies of the Merrimack Valley.
He is survived by his wife, Grace (Murphy) Maxfield of Hampton; two daughters, Robin Maxfield, R.N., of Alton and Dr. Lisa M. Maxfield of Irvine, Calif.; one son and his wife, Roger N. Jr., and Julie Maxfield of Dracut; one grandson; four sisters, Norma Lowery of Tewksbury, Mass., Barbara Christenson of Nashua, Jewel Hurley of Dracut and Gloria Rudnikoff of Sunnyvale, Calif.; and one brother, Harold Maxfield of Camellias, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth M. "Betty" (Holgate) Maxfield, and two brothers, Arthur Maxfield and Atwood Maxfield.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Morse-Bayliss Funeral Home, 122 Princeton Blvd., Lowell, followed at 11:30 a.m. by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Margaret Church, Lowell. Burial will be in Lowell Cemetery.
