Hatch. Douglas served his country during World War II (BIRLS). He was in the Army Air Force from 24 November 1942 to 7 February 1944, and in the Army from 8 February 1944 to 6 March 1946.

Douglas G. Maxfield married three times. MARY PEINE was probably his first wife. He married PATRICIA C. CLOVER at Santa Clara County, California, on 4 September, 1969. Both were 44 years old. His wife at the time of his death was VIRGINIA B. ________.

Doug Maxfield of Vail died Nov 1

Longtime Vail local, Doug Gregg Maxfield died Nov 1 in Granville, Ohio. He was 81.
He was born Nov 5, 1924, in Grand Rapids, Mich., son of Olive Hatch Maxfield and William Gregg Maxfield.
After graduating from High School in Muskegon, Mich., he served as a pilot in the U. S. Army Air Corps, where he flew a B-24 Liberator.
After World War II, he attended Kenyon College, graduating in 1949, but attended alumin events throughout his life.
After graduating he joined Anchor Hocking in Lancaster, Ohio. He worked for Anchor Hocking for almost 40 years in several states, eventually serving as vice president for purchasing.
He was an avid sailor in Michigan and Florida.
He retired in 1986 to Wolcott's Bellyache Ridge. He was a skier and active volunteer. He worked with Vail Resorts Children's Ski School and volunteered for the World Cup Championships, the Bellyache Metro District and many other organizations.
He and his wife, Jenny, recently returned to Granville to be closer to family. He kept in touch with the Vail Valley by reading the Vail Daily online every single day, family members said.
Doug is survived by wife, Virginia B. Maxfield; brother Warren; sons Gregg, Jeff and Mike Maxfield; Bill and Charlie Seyferth; Jeff Johnson; many grandchildren; and great-grandsons Christopher and Max. He was preceded in death by wives Mary Peine Maxfield and Patricia Clover Maxfield and son Steven Alfred Maxfield . . .
