ALBERT J.8 MAXFIELD (John7, perhaps Daniel6, probably Daniel5,4, Ebenezer3, Samuel2, Clement1) was born in Rhode Island about 1824/5, according to the 1850 Census. He was a child of John and Nancy Maxfield according to her father's will.

Albert J. Maxfield married JULIET T. SHERMAN at Providence, Rhode Island, on 20 January 1849 (VR RI 2:1:121). Juliet was born in Connecticut about 1819/20, according to the 1850 Census. That Census found this family at Smithfield, Rhode Island (1850 Census, Providence Co., 122) as follows:

The birth places of their children indicate that the Albert Maxfield family moved to Illinois sometime between 1851 and 1853, and remained there through 1865.

The 1880 census (259:310A) found A. J. and Juliett Maxfield at Tampico Township, Whiteside County, Illinois. A. J. was a blacksmith. Jennie, Capitola, Travis and Pleasant were still at home. Jennie and Travis were both teaching school, and Pleasant was working on a farm.
