GEORGE O.6 MAXFIELD (Mitchell5, Joshua4-3, Joseph2, John1) was born at New York on April 1850 (1900 census), a child of Mitchell and Hannah M. Maxfield. On 4 August 1878 he married FANNY J. STEVENS at Lake George, New York (Wash Co Nwsp M). They both came from Fort Ann, New York. A year later, on 23 August 1879, Fanny Maxfield died at Fort Ann (Wash Co Nwsp D). She was 28 years old.

The 1880 census (942:100A) reported George Maxfield living with his father at Fort Ann. He was recorded as a widower, a carpenter, age 36.

The 1900 census (1172:4B) reported George Maxfield, a widower, living at Fort Ann. However, he had two children, born since the 1880 census. It would appear that George married again, about 1881, as that census stated that he was married 19 years. This second wife evidently died sometime between the death of their last mentioned child, 1888, and the 1900 census. That census listed a three-person household of George O. Maxfield, born April 1850, son Charles, born November 1884, and daughter Erma, born August 1888. George was a carpenter, the two children were in school.

George O. Maxfield and his second wife had the following children (1900 census):

  2. CHARLES7 MAXFIELD b. at New York on November 1884
  3. ERMA7 MAXFIELD
    • b. at New York on August 1888
