ALMON6 MAXFIELD (Jonathan5, Currier4, Joshua3, Joseph2, John1) was born at Goshen, New Hampshire, on 5 November 1829 (NMGR 7:70), a child of Jonathan Carr Maxfield and his first wife Judith Cheney. Almon probably headed west with his parents in 1844, and settled in Plover, Wisconsin (F). Almon appeared in the 1850 Census (1005:311), at Union Town, Rock County, Wisconsin, a farmer age 20 born in Maine, in the household of Hiram and Sarah Griffith. The 1860 census (1426:311) reported Almon Maxfield, 30, farmer, living in the household of his sister and brother-in-law, Electa and Jacob Harbaugh, at Plover.

MARY ELIZABETH RICE married Almon Maxfield at Plover on 20 June 1861 (NMGR 7:70). Mary Elizabeth was born at Stockholm, New York, on 20 August 1842 (NMGR 7:70).

The 1870 census (1732:142) reported Almond and elizabeth Maxfield at Plover with their daughter, Irena, 1, and a his probable nephew, Henry Harbaugh, 14. The Almon Maxfield family was reported in the 1880 Census (1442:100C) at Plover as follows:

The 1900 Census (1812:1:150) reported the family in the village of Plover, in the Town of Plover, consisting of five persons. Almond Maxfield, born at New Hampshire in November 1830, was a retired merchant. His wife, Mary E. Maxfield, born at New York in August 1842, had ten children, of whom four were still living. Daughter Marian Maxfield, born at Wisconsin in December 1876, was single and teaching school. Mary E. Maxfield's parents, Benoni (born at New York in June 1812) and Mary (born at New York in August 1815) Rice were also in the family.

The 1910 census (1733:2:136A) reported Almon and Mary E. Maxfield at Plover. They had been married 48 years. Almon, 80, was a retired farmer. Mary, 67, had six children, four of whom were living.

Almon Maxfield died at Plover on 14 December 1912 (NMGR 7:70). Mary Elizabeth died in 1916 (Plover Cem). Both were buried in Plover Cemetery, Plover, Wisconsin.
