CHAUNCEY L.7 MAXFIELD (Harry6, William5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1 ) was born at Vermont on 5 April 1826 (Lansing Cem), a child of Harry Maxfield and his first wife Abigail Bishop. His parentage is documented by his father's probate record (Franklin Co Prob 17:257), where Chauncey L. Maxfield is described as an heir of Harry Maxfield living outside the bounds of Vermont.

At some time probably before 1849 Chauncey L. Maxfield married ROSETTA WOODWORTH. Their first child was born at Wisconsin in November 1849. Rosetta was born at Vermont on 27 October 1820 (Lansing Cem). The 1850 Census (1000:297) reported the family at Salem Township, Kenosha County, Wisconsin, consisting of Chauncey, 25, Rosetta, 29, and George T., eight months.

The 1860 Census (569:361:35-37) reported the family at Newry, Freeborn County, Minnesota (Geneva Post Offcie), consisting of Chancey, 34, farmer, Rosetta, 38, and George F., 10. By the 1870 Census (T132_7:13:9-12) the family had settled at Lansing, Mower County, Minnesota:

Chauncey, Rosetta and Emma were reported at Lansing in the 1880 Census (626:576D), and the 1885 Minnesota state census (MN Cen 1885:34:307).

Chauncey L. Maxfield died on 30 July 1893. Rosetta soon followed, on 16 September 1893 (Lansing Cem).

Chauncey L. Maxfield and his wife Rosetta Woodworth had the following children:

  1. GEORGE F.8 MAXFIELD b. at Wisconsin on November 1849
  2. EMMA R.8 MAXFIELD b. at Minnesota on 10 March 1861
