CHARLES W.7 MAXFIELD (Ira6, Obadiah5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1 ) was born at Lamont, Tallmadge Township, Ottawa County, Michigan, on June 1847 (Edwards, Montrose Cem), a child of Ira H. Maxfield and his wife Lucinda Angell.

Charles Maxfield married FETINA SUFS at LaCrosse, LaCrosse County, Wisconsin, on 27 September 1874 (WI M). She is called "Fatina" on the 1880 census, "Fay" on the 1910 census, "Faye" on the 1920 census, and "Fema L. Sees" on her daughter's birth record. She was born at Pennsylvania about February 1857 (1900 Census), the child of Jacob and Sophie Sufs.

They were at Onalaska, LaCrosse County, Wisconsin, at the time of the birth of their daughter on 15 December 1887. The 1890 veteran's census (1890 Vet Sch) reported Charles Maxfield at Onalaska, Wisconsin. According to this record he served in Company "F", 30th Michigan Infantry, from 22 December 1863 to 23 June 1865. The schedule reported that he was deaf. On May 19, 1896 he was granted an increase in his pension (Penny Press, 19 May 1896, p. 6).

The 1900 Census (1795:7A) reported this family at 2016 Kane Street, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The names of Charles' wife and youngest daughter are partially illegible.

The record also indicated that Charles and Faye had been married 36 years, and Faye had four children, all living. "Perrie Wade" is probably Pirie Maxfield, son of Bertin Maxfield.

Son Charles' draft registration in September 1918 indicated his father was living at Plainfield, Wisconsin.

Fatine, or Faye, Maxfield died at Chicago, Illinois, on 19 April 1926 (IL D). Charles Maxfield resided at the National Home for Disabled Veterans intermittently from January 18, 1929 to June 6, 1930 (Disabl Sold). His record there follows:

The 1930 census (2598:2B) found Charles Maxfield, age 83, widower, a resident member of the National Home for Disables Soldiers at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. According to this record, Charles was a veteran of the Civil War, born at Michigan, his father at Vermont, his mother at New York. Charles Maxfield died in 1931 (Montrose Cem).
