GEORGE W.7 MAXFIELD (Levi6-5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Ohio on 28 February 1838 (W Highland Cem), a child of Levi Maxfield and his wife Caroline Campbell. His family moved to Michigan before the birth of his next sibling in 1843.

The 1860 census (552:) reported George Maxfield, age 18, farm laborer, on the farm of John and Cynthia Glines, at Hartland Township, Livingston County, Michigan. George was "sort of" related to the Glines. George's Aunt Judith was John Gline's first wife.

George Maxfield served in the Union Army for a little over three months during the last year of the war (Civ War Sold):

George Maxfield married EMILY ELMIRA COLE probably about 1865. (W Highland Cem--her name). She was born at Highland Township, Oakland County, Michigan, on May 1845 (1900 census; W highland Cem--year).

The George Maxfield family lived at Rose Township, Oakland County, Michigan, as reported in the 1870, 1880 and 1900 censuses. The 1870 census (695:1:505B) reported George, 30, farmer, Emily, 25, and Emily, 1. However cemetery records indicate the child was Elmer, not Emily.

The 1880 census (599:343A) reported:

By 1900 (735:2:236) Chloe and Leroy were gone, but two more children had come along:

This record also indicated that George and Emily had been married 35 years, and that Emily had eight children, four of whom were living. Emily was also reported in the household of her daughter Chloe in Genesee County.

Emily (Cole) Maxfield died at West Branch, Ogemaw County, Michigan, on February 1909 (W Highland Cem). George Maxfield died in 1916 (W Highland Cem).

George W. Maxfield and his wife Emily Almira Cole had the following children:
