LEVI H.7 MAXFIELD (Thomas6, Levi5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Ohio about 1841 (1840/1 in 1870 census, 1841/2 in 1850, 1860 censuses) a child of Thomas and Melinda Maxfield.

Levi Maxfield served in the Civil War (Civ War):

Service Record : Enlisted as a Private on 13 Aug. 1862 at the age of 20
Enlisted in Company H, 22nd Infantry Regiment Michigan on 22 Aug. 1862.
Mustered out Company H, 22nd Infantry Regiment Michigan on 26 Jun. 1865 in Nashville, TN
Sometime before the 1870 census Levi Maxfield married MARY GILLINGHAM. Mary was born at Michigan about March 1842 (VR MI D).

The 1870 census (687:1:130B) reported L. H. and Mary Maxfield living at Howell Post Office, Hartland Township, Livingston County, Michigan. L. H., farmer, born at Ohio, could not write. Mary, 28, keeping house, was born at Michigan to foreign born parents.

Mary (Gillingham) Maxfield died at Highland Township, Oakland County, Michigan, on 25 June 1874 (VR MI D). The record stated:

Maxfield, Mary T., died 25 June 1874 at Highland, Oakland Co.; female white married, age 32 years 3 months, erysepelas, b. MI, housekeeper, child of John Gillingham, deceased, and Betsey Gillingham
Three months later, on 24 September 1874 at Oakland County, Michigan, Levi Maxfield married ANGELINE (HILTON) WHITE. (Oakland Co M). She was born at New York about 1837 (W Highland Cem; state from 1880 census).

The 1880 census (598:135A) reported this family at Highland Township:

In December 1881 Levi Maxfield moved to Owoso, Shiawassee County, Michigan, according to the following affidavit dated 20 January 1885 (Needham):

That he lived in Hartland, Livingston Co., Mich., from one year old till two years before enlistment, then in Highland, Oakland Co., Mich., till enlistment. That since discharge he lived in said Highland till December 1881, when he moved to Owoso.
I have no further record of Levi and Angeline Maxfield beyond this 1885 affidavit.

Levi H. Maxfield and his first wife Mary Gillingham had the following child:
