PHILO7 MAXFIELD (Thomas6, Levi5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Michigan on October 1847 (1900 census), a child of Thomas and Melinda Maxfield. The 1870 census (687:1:135A) reported him at Howell Post Office, Hartland Township, Livingston County, Michigan, a 26 year old farm laborer in the household of Ezekiel and Almira Cook.

Philo Maxfield married SARAH M. ABBOT about 1875/6 (1900 census). She was born at Michigan about 1856/7 (1930 census; 1855/6 in 1910 census, 1859/60 in 1880 census, Feb 1860 in 1900 census, 1861 in 1920 census).

The 1880 census (599:343A) reported from Rose, Oakland County, Michigan, the household of Philo Maxfield, 30, farmer, wife Sarah M. Maxfield, 20, and her sister Susan M. Abbot, 13. The 1900 census (711:1:278) found this family at Thetford Township, Genesee County, Michigan:

Phila and Sarah had been married 24 years; Sarah had three children, one living. Melinda had six children, four living.

The 1910 census (642:1:318A) found this family at the same township. Philo, 64, was a farmer with a general farm; wife Sarah, 54, had two children, one living; they had been married 36 years. Vera Welch, a niece, age 14, also lived with them.

The 1920 census (790:31A) found a larger family, including their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchild, at 13777 North Main Street, Royal Oak village, Royal Oak Township, Oakland County, Michigan:

Philo Maxfield died before the 1930 census (1029:), when Sarah M. Maxfield, widow, age 73, married at age 19, was living at Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, Michigan. With her were daughter Nettie E. Lehman, 48, married at 35, cook for a club house, grandson Ernest P. Lehman, 13, granddaughter Margaret E. Lehman, 9, and one lodger.

Philo Maxfield and his wife Sarah M. Abbot had the following children:
