WILLIAM PARKMAN7 MAXFIELD (William6, Eliphalet5, Nathaniel4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at China, Maine, on 7 April 1831 (NMGR 7:71), a child of William McCrillis Maxfield and his wife Mary Parkman.
HANNAH COFFIN HAYWARD married William P. Maxfield at Sidney, Maine, on 2 December 1861 (VR Ma 146:113:2019). The event was recorded in the Boston, Massachusetts records as follows:

Hannah was born at Sidney, Maine (marriage record), in October 1836 (1900 Census), to Edmund and Almira Hayward. Hannah taught school for several years in Massachusetts and Maine, before marriage (Valentine).
Harold Alton Valentine reported of his grandfather;
William Parkman Maxfield worked in the Charlestown Navy Yard during the Civil War. After the war, he had a store selling "Soda, Mineral Water and Fancy Goods" at 31 South 8th Street in Philadelphia. Then he worked as a pattern maker for "Ferris & Miles", finally opening his own pattern shop at 11th and Race Sts in Philadelphia. William P. Maxfield worked as a pattern maker in Boston when he was married in 1861; in Charlestown at the birth of a child in 1863, and later in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He "worked in the Charleston Navy Yard during the Civil War where he was a draftsman, some of his drawings exist at the yard for the castings used in the double turret monitor Monadnock. (Valentine).

The record further indicated that Hannah had two children, both living. Daughter Mary Francis had been married two years, and had two children, of whom one was living.
William P. Maxfield died at his home at 1993 Parish Street, Philadelphia, on 18 January 1908 (NMGR 7:71; Valentine).
Widow Hannah Maxfield fell and broke her hip in 1915 and remained bed ridden the rest of her life (Valentine). She was reported in the 1920 census at 1933 Parish Street, Philadelphia. Living with her were her son, William Edwin, an auto salesman, and her daughter and son-in-law and their two children. Hannah Maxfield died at her home, 1933 Parish Street, Philadelphia, on 27 March 1922 (NMGR 7:71;Valentine).
