THOMAS HALL7 MAXFIELD (Oren6, Eliphalet5, Nathaniel4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1), a son of Oren Maxfield and his wife Chloe Washburn Dexter, was born at Toulon, Stark County, Illinois on 31 August 1845 (NMGR 7:89).

Thomas Maxfield married SARAH FRANCES CARR at Toulon on 7 January 1872 (IL M). The daughter of Russell and Sarah Jane (Clements) Carr, Sarah was born at Victory Mills, New York on 29 March 1852 (Lester Maxfield).

The Thomas Hall Maxfield family lived on the old Maxfield homestead in Toulon (F). The 1880 Census (40:280:28:20 soundex) reported this family at West Toulon Township, Stark County. In addition to Thomas, the family included Sarah F. (age 28), Grant (age 7), Chloe F. (age 6), L. W. (daughter, age 5), Augusta, (age 3), and Susan F. (age 1).

Thomas died at Toulon on 30 December 1897 (NMGR 7:89). The 1900 Census (345:11A) reported the family at Toulon Township:

The 1910 census (323:2:307A) reported the family at Toulon Township, consisting of Sarah F Maxfield, 58, Grant, 37, a house carpenter, Cora, 26, teacher at public school, Ethel, 25, nurse for a private family, Everett, 22, farm manager for the home farm, Ruby, 21, Carol, 17, Leslie, 15, farm laborer on the home farm, and Julian, 13.

The 1930 census (562:) reported Sarah F. Maxfield, widow, 78, at Miller Street in the city of Toulon. With her were Julian G., 33, a retail milkman, and Carol L., 37, trained nurse working for a private family.

Sarah died at Toulon on 6 April 1939 (Lester Maxfield).
