Before the next census, perhaps about 1914, Harry P. Maxfield married ETHEL MAE PRESTON, who was born at Kansas on 5 April 1887 (CA D). The 1920 census (125:15B) reported them on East Second Street, Perris:

By 1930 the family had moved to Miramonte Precinct, San Antonio Township, Los Angeles County, California, where Harry P. Maxfield reported his age as 60 and his occupation as tailor, tailoring for the stage. Ethel was 32, Mildred 16. According to this mathematically confusing record, Harry and Ethel had married at the ages of 44 and 16 respectively.
Harry P. Maxfield died at Los Angeles County on 12 August 1956 (CA D; His News). It was reported in the Los Angeles Times as follows:
Deaths--Harry P. Maxfield, 89, res. 5239 Verdu Ave., died Sunday. Retired in 1941 after 25 years sering with Santa Fe Railroad as a telegraph agent. Leaves widow Ethel, daughter Mildred Gallagher, grandson Shawn T. Gallagher.Ethel Maxfield died at Los Angeles County on 26 June 1978 (CA D; SSDI).
