WILLIAM A.7 MAXFIELD (Josiah6, Jacob5, Eliphalet4-3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at New Hampshire on January 1849 (1900 census), a child of Josiah Maxfield and his first wife Sarah Stone.

William Maxfield married SARAH F. TUCKER probably before 1872. Sarah had been born at Maine about December 1858 (1900 census). The 1880 census (91:559B) reported William H. Maxfield, single, age 31, born at New Hampshire, a miner, living alone at Lake County, Colorado.

William and Sarah probably divorced some time before 1884, as Sarah married EDWARD MOORE about that time (1900 census. 591:2:3). The 1900 census (129:2:23) reported William A. Maxfield, born at New Hampshire on January 1849, gold mining at Teller County, Colorado.

The 1910 census (114:1:237A) reported Willaim A. Maxfield farming with one of his sons and family at Dotsero, Eagle County, Colorado:
