Frank and Elvira had been married at the ages of 29 and 22 respectively, James and Marguerite at the ages of 22 and 16 respectively. Perhaps the census taker wrote the wrong surname for daughter Virginia.
Frank H. Maxfield died at Portland, Maine, on 29 December 1955 (His News). The New York Times noted that he was three times an unsuccessful candidate for Governor on the Socialist ticket. Elvira died at Portland on 21 November 1965 (Me D; SSDI).
