GEORGE HENRI7 MAXFIELD (John6, Jesse5, Richard4, Joseph3-2, John1) was born at Salisbury, New Hampshire, on 11 August 1866 (Ca D). His parents were John G. Maxfield and his wife Susan Carter.

NELLIE R. COLE married George H. Maxfield at Concord, New Hampshire, on 27 September 1890 (VR NH M). The event was recorded as follows:

Nellie Cole was born at Stoneham, Maine (marriage record), in April 1870 (1900 Census), to Lorenzo Cole and Mary Littlefield; Nellie worked as a seamstress.

George Maxfield's occupation was called "railroading" in the above 1890 record. In the birth records of his children he was called a machinist in 1893 and a beltmaker in 1895, all in Concord. He was reported to be a mill worker in Connecticut in the 1900 Census, an agricultural merchant with his own store in California in 1920, and a belt maker at a cotton mill in 1930.

The 1900 Census (149:2:233A) reported this family at 58 Spring Street, Norwich, Connecticut:

The record also reported that the couple had been married ten years, and that Nellie had two children, both living.

The 1920 Census (93:17B) reported George, Nellie and Gertrude living at 1370 Fifth Street, Berkeley, California. George was an agricultural merchant with his own store.

The 1930 Census (107:6A) reported the family at 3372 15th Street, Oakland, California:
