L.7 MAXFIELD (Matthew6, Richard5, probably Benjamin4, Joseph3-2, John1) was born at Montcalm, Montcalm County, Michigan on 13 June 1888 (MI D; SSDI), a child of Matthew Nathaniel Maxfield and his wife Alice. He married ETHEL BARBER (Ferguson) about 1915/6 (1930 census). Ethel was born in Michigan on 4 April 1898 (SSDI).

The 1920 census (787:7A) found M. L. and Ethel Maxfield at Richland Township, Montcalm County, Michigan. M. L. was a farmer. Thier ages were 31 and 24 respectively. They had two children, a son Durwood, age 2 years and two months, and a daughter, whose name is illegible, age 3 months.

M. L. and Ethel Maxfield had the following children:
