Descendants of John Maxfield
of Salisbury, Massachusetts
Eighth Generation

EDWARD ALEXANDER8 MAXFIELD (William7, Russell6, Zaddock5, Edmund4, Timothy3-2, John1) was born at Jersey City, New Jersey on 21 November 1878 (NJ B; WWII Draft), a child of William S. Maxfield and his wife Teresa Amanda Webster.

Edward Maxfield married SUSAN WEBSTERE at Jersey City on 7 April 1899 (NJ M). She was born at New York about February 1879 (1900 Census).

Edward and Susan were living with Edward's parents at the time of the 1900 Census. The 1910 Census (977:1:57A) found this family at 13 Miller Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. The family consisted of Edward H., 31, his wife Susan, 31, their sons, Albert E., 8, and Charles, 6, and Edward's widowed mother, Theresa, 64. Edward was a pressman for a printing company. He and Susan had been married eleven years. She had given birth to three children, two of whom were living. Theresa had given birth to nine children, four of whom were living. (This is not congruent with what she reported in the 1900 census).

The 1920 Census (1180:6B-7A) reported Edward and Susan's family at 628 Crescent Street, Brooklyn, New York:

By 1930 (1608:15A) the family had grown by marriage, and resided at 10948 117th St., Ozone Park, Queens, New York:

The 1930 census reported age at first marriage, rather than years of marriage. Edward and Susie were both 21 when married. Olive, John, Charles and Edna all gave their age at marriage as the same as their age at the time of the census, indicating that both couples had married within a year of the census.

When Edward Maxfield reported for the "old man's" draft, at Queens, on 27 April 1942, he reported the following:

Edward Alexander Maxfield, 180 Beach 82d St., Rockaway Beach, NY; 63
