GEORGE FREDERICK8 MAXFIELD (George7, William6, David5, Edmund4, Timothy3-2, John1) was born at New Bedford, Massachusetts, on 6 July 1875 (VR Ma 268:145:415), a child of George Francis Maxfield and his wife Mary Humphrey. The birth was recorded as follows:

George married at New Bedford on 12 September 1901 ALICE SOPHIA LINDEN (MA VR 512:257:478), who was born at Lonsdale, Rhode Island in 1880 (Oak Gr Cem QQ-42; 1920 Census). The marriage record gives the following information:

George Frederick Maxfield signed up for the draft at Bristol County on 12 September 1918 and reported the following:

The 1920 Census (686:6A) reported George, Alice, and their children Linden and Hilda, living with Alice's parents at New Bedford. Arthur Linden, age 66, was born in Ireland, came to America in 1868, received citizenship in 1894, and was employed as a stationary engineer at a mill. Hannah S. Linden, age 68, was born in Sweden, came to America in 1872, and received citizenship in 1890. George F. Maxfield, their son-in-law, age 44, was a hardware salesman. Alice Maxfield, their daughter, age 39, was born in Rhode Island. The Linden's grandchildren, Linden and Hilda Maxfield, were ages 14 and 11.

The 1930 Census reported George, Alice and Hilda at New Bedford. George was proprietor of a hardware store.

George F. Maxfield died at Saint Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, on 21 January 1936, age 60 years, 7 months and 15 days. His last residence was 185 Sycamore Street, New Bedford (Oak Gr Cem QQ-42). He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery on 23 January 1936. Alice S. Maxfield died at Lawrence, Massachusetts, on 20 June 1964, age 80, her last residence was Wilmington, Massachusetts (Oak Gr Cem QQ-42). She was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery on June 24, 1964.

George and Alice Maxfield had the following children:
