ALFONZO8 MAXFIELD (George7, Minor6, probably Henry5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Virginia about 1868/9 (1867/8 in 1880 census, 1868/9 in 1870, 1910 censuses, 1871 in 1920 census), a child of George Lewis and Edmonia Elizabeth Maxfield.

Alfonzo Maxfield married MAMIE E. BRAMALL at Stafford County, Virginia, on 29 December 1891 (VA M). Mamie was born about 1869/70 (death record).

Mamie (Bramall) Maxfield died at Stafford County on 6 June 1896, from consumption, at the age of 26, two months after the birth and death of her last child. (Lib VA D).

The 1910 census reported Alfonze, called "Alton," at Coles District, Prince William County, Virginia, boarding in the household of Darah Pearson. He was a 41 year old widower, working as a log turner for a lumber mill. The living children, Harold and Clara, were with Alfonzo's parents, George and Edmonia Maxfield, at Stafford County.

The 1920 census (1907:10B) found Alfonzo farming a general farm at the Manassas District of Prince William County, he was recorded as 48 and single. Living with him was a cousin, Sarah A. Benson (not sure of last name because of penmanship), who was 44 and divorced. This is the last reference I have for Alfonzo.

Alfonzo Maxfield and his wife Mamie E. Bramall had the following children:
