Lotan Maxfield married IDA LUELLA MINER at Saxon on 9 February 1882 (IL M; NMGR 7:93). Ida was born at Saxon on 16 September 1862 (NMGR 7:93), a child of Harrison Miner and Avice Parrish.

The 1900 (306:10B) Census reported this family at Wethersfield Township, Henry County, Illinois:

This document further stated that L. D. and Ida had been married eighteen years, and she had seven children, four of whom were living.

Lotan and Ida farmed in Stark County until Ida's death, at Saxon on 23 March 1905 (NMGR 7:93). Lotan then moved to Kewanee, Illinois. About 1909 he moved to Moline, Illinois, where he worked for the Wilson Auto Manufacturing Company for sixteen years (NMGR 7:93). The 1910 census (320:2:41A) reported Lotan Maxfield, 55, living at 122B Seventh Avenue, Moline, Illinois, with daughters Ada, 12, and Eva, 10, and brother John, 55. Lotan was a teamster, John was gardner for a private family.

Lotan Dexter Maxfield died at Moline on 16 September 1925 (IL D;NMGR 7:93).
