ELIAS ELLSWORTH8 MAXFIELD (John7, Oren6, Eliphalet5, Nathaniel4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Illinois on 12 February 1863 (NMGR 7:94; Ia Cem), a child of John Bennock Maxfield and his first wife Sarah Shockley.

CARRIE E. WELTY married Elias Maxfield at Warren County, Illinois, on 5 August 1890 (IL M; NMGR 7:94). She was born at Knoxville, Illinois (NMGR 7:94) on March 1872 (1900 Census), a child of John and Julia Welty.

The 1900 Census (458:2:34A) reported this family at 523 Brady Street, Davenport, Iowa:

The 1910 census (423:1:20A) reported Elias Maxfield, 46, and Carrie, 28, with son Harold, 7, at Davenport. According to this record, Elias and Carrie had been married eight years, and had one child, who was living. Elias worked as a bartender. This record appears to be in error: Carrie should be ten years older, and they should be married ten years longer; she should have at least three children, two living.

The 1930 census (682:) reported Elias and Carrie at 902 Farmans Street, Davenport:

This document also recorded that Elias and Carrie at ages 27 and 18 respectively.

Elias and Carrie Maxfield were living in Davenport, Iowa in 1929 (NMGR 7:94).

Elias Maxfield died on 24 November 1935, and was buried in Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport (Ia Cem). Carrie died some time after 1935 (F). Elias and Carrie Maxfield had the following children:
