John Cook Maxfield evidently married BURDELLA ________, as they appear as husband and wife in the 1910 census (1285:2:244A). According to that record, Burdella was born at Indiana about 1883/4, and they were married about 1905/6. That record found this childless couple living at 722 Patton Road, Portland, Oregon. John, age 32, was an agent for a wholesale firm, Burdella, his wife, age 26, had no children; she was born in Indiana, her parents in Ohio. They had been married four years.
There is some confusion in the records. John Cook Maxfield married NORMA ULRICH, who was first married about 1908, and their son was born in 1909. Norma A. Ulrich was born at Utah in January 1890, a child of Edward J. and Adeline S. Ulrich (1900 Census: 1688:9A:43-45). The 1920 Census (136:9A) found this family at 3161 Jackson Street, San Francisco, California:

John was first married at 26, Norma at 17. John incorrectly identified his birthplace as Illinois, but correctly identified his father's birthplace as Illinois. Norma identified her father's birthplace as Ohio.
