Descendants of John Maxfield
of Salisbury, Massachusetts
Eighth Generation

GEORGE FREDERICK8 MAXFIELD (Nathaniel7, Oren6, Eliphalet5, Nathaniel4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Toulon, Stark County, Illinois, on 19 January 1876 (NMGR 7:95), a child of Nathaniel Dexter Maxfield and his wife Sophia Parrish.

GENEVIEVE MARY FRANCK married George F. Maxfield at Grafton, Fillmore County, Nebraska on 11 November 1896 (NMGR 7:95). She was born at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 4 July 1875 (NMGR 7:95), a child of David LeFranck and Josephine Schenk.

The 1900 Census (926:2:93A) reported George and Genevieve Maxfield at Fairmont, Fillmore County, Nebraska. George, born February 1876, was a day laborer. Genevieve, born at Pennsylvania in July 1875, reported her father's birthplace as France, her mother's as Germany. Their only child at that time, Dexter C. Maxfield, was born at Nebraska on July 1897.

The 1910 Census (845:3:62B) reported the family at Rose Avenue, Fairmont. Frederick G. Maxfield, 36, was a house painter. The rest of the family consisted of Frena G., wife, 36, William D., son, 12, Weldon C., son, 7, and El Reno L., son, thirteen months. Frederick and Frena had been married thirteen years, and she had three children, all living.

When George Frederick Maxfield registered for the draft at Fillmore County, on 12 September 1918 he reported the following (WWI Draft):

George Frederick Maxfield
Fairmont, Fillmore Co., NE
42; b. Jan 19, 1876 white
carpenter, for self, Fairmont
relative: Teena J. Maxfield, Fairmont
tall, slender, blue eyes, dark hair
The 1920 Census (985:3B) found this family at Clark Avenue, Fairmont:

Name Related Sex Race Age MS B FB MB Occupation

house
Maxfield, Freena wife F W 43 M PA IL PA none
Maxfield, Weldon son M W 16 S NE IL PA none
Maxfield, Elvena son M W 14 S NE IL PA none

As "Freena" had the same age and birth state as Genevieve, it is probably a nickname for the same person. The census taker appears to have bungled the information on the birth places of their parents.

Genevieve Maxfield died at Fairmont on 19 June 1928 (NMGR 7:95). In 1929 George Maxfield was a carpenter at Fairmont (NMGR 7:95).

George Maxfield married MYRTLE A. McMANIGAL before the 1930 census (1280:), which reported the following blended family:
