GEORGE THOMAS8 MAXFIELD (John7, Thomas6, Jacob5, Eliphalet4-3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Salem, Massachusetts on 16 April 1873 (VR Ma 250:305:177), a child of John V. Maxfield and his wife Elizabeth B. Voller. The census in 1900 (599:5B) reported George Maxfield as a hotel clerk at Bingham, Somerset County, Maine.

George Maxfield married, as his first wife, ELIZA MAE WILSON at Salem, Massachusetts, on 29 September 1907 (VR Ma 570:684:348). Eliza was born at Massachusetts about 1888/9 (1910 census, marriage record). The record noted:

The 1910 census (545:2:250B) reported George, Eliza, and their daughter Anne living with his brother, Merritt, at Sangerville, Maine. George was unemployed, Eliza was working as a spinner at a woolen mill. When George reported for the draft, at Somerset County, Maine, on 12 September 1918, he reported the following:

The 1920 census (648:3B) entry for this family is difficult to read. The family resided at 9 Newhall Street, Fairfield, Somerset County, Maine. George was treasurer of a mill, his wife a sower, their daughter a student.

George Maxfield married as his second wife GRACE B. THOMAS at Maine on 27 May 1921 (Me M). They were both residents of Fairfield. Grace, born at Maine about 1886/7 (1930 census), had first married a man surnamed ________ WARREN by whom she had a daughter, Nesta, about 1910/1. She would later marry HAROLD H. FROST at Maine on 6 July 1935 (Me M).

George Maxfield died sometime after his second marriage (1921) and before the 1930 census, which reported his widow (839:) at 8 Giliam Street, Fairfield:
