Descendants of John Maxfield
of Salisbury, Massachusetts
Ninth Generation

EUGENE WARREN9 MAXFIELD (William8-7, Gilbert6, William5, David4, probably Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Columbus, Ohio on 30 March 1894 (OH D 49124) a child of William J. Grant Maxfield and his wife Mary E. Curley. When Eugene was twelve years old his father died. Eugene continued to live with his widowed mother at least until the 1920 census, when he was traffic manager for a coal company.

Eugene W. Maxfield married MARGARET ZIEGLER at Franklin County, Ohio, on 3 July 1924 (OH M). She was born at Columbus on 9 July 1902, a child of Louis Ziegler and Agnes Doyle.

The 1930 census (1802:34A) reported this family at Columbus:

Name Related Sex Race Age MS B FB MB Occupation
Maxfield, Eugene W. head M W 36 M OH OH Wales dealer, coal
Maxfield, Margaret wife F W 27 M OH OH OH none
Maxfield, William L. son M W 2 7/12 S OH OH OH none

This record gave the ages of Eugene and Margaret at marriage as 30 and 21, respectively.

When Eugene Maxfield registered for the "old man's" draft at Delaware County, Ohio, on 27 April 1942 (WWII Draft), he reported the following:

Eugene W. Maxfield, Rt 2, Sunbury, Delaware Co., OH [typed: Columbus, Franklin Co., OH]; 48;
b. Columbus, OH, Mar 3, 1894; contact: Florus Maxfield
employer: Mr. Vance, Lockbourne Airbase, Lockbourne, OH.
I have not identified Florus Maxfield.

Eugene Warren Maxfield died at Columbus on 15 August 1949 (OH D 49124). That record gave his residence as 20 East Blake Avenue, and his place of death as Saint Francis Hospital. It called him a widower, and gave his occupation as stackman for the city water works. He died from a gastro-intestinal hemorrhage.

Some time before 1950 Margaret (Ziegler) Maxfield married RICHARD ROBINSON, as the newspaper wedding announcement of son William Maxfield, gives those names for his parents.

Eugene W. Maxfield and his wife Margaret Ziegler had at least the following child:

  1. >WILLIAM LEON10 MAXFIELD b. at Ohio about August 1927
