The 1920 census (1383:5B) reported Mary Maxfield at 77 West Franklin Avenue, Columbus, with her two youngest children. Mary E. Maxfield, age 53, was not employed; Eugene W. Maxfield, 25, was traffic manager for a coal company; Lucille, 17, was not employed.
The 1930 census (1801:24B) reported Mary E. Maxfield, age 63, immigrant in 1869, living alone at 77 West Franklin Avenue, Columbus.
Mary E. Maxfield died at Columbus on 10 February 1937 (OH D 10210), in a diabetic coma.
