CLYDE ELLIS9 MAXFIELD (Dayon8, William7, David6, possibly Isaac5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Giltner, Hamilton County, Nebraska, on 24 July 1891 (WWI Draft; Pine Bluffs Cem), a child of Dayon Maxfield and his wife Mabel Devolt. In 1900 (census) he was living with his parents at Hamilton, Hamilton County, Nebraska. According to the 1910 census, his parents had moved to York County, Nebraska, but Clyde and his brother Bert remained at Hamilton, where they lived with their bachelor uncle John Devolt, and all worked as carpenters.

Clyde Ellis Maxfield married FLORENCE BERTHA BURK at Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa, on 7 September 1913 (IA M). Florence had been born at Effingham County, Illinois, on 4 September 1895 (SSDI; Pine Bluff Cem) to Hugh Burk and May Orr.

Clyde Maxfield signed up for the draft at Hamilton County on 22 June 1917 (WWI Draft) and reported the following:

The 1920 Census (995:6B) reported the Clyde Maxfield family at Bushnell, Kimball County, Nebraska, immediately after Dayon and Mabel Maxfield:
