CLIFFORD LEROY10 MAXFIELD (Gilbert9, Frederick8, Gilbert7, John6, William5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Iowa on 26 February 1917 (SSDI) a child of Gilbert Allen Maxfield and his wife Martha Page. He served in the Army during World War II, from 12 August 1941 to 28 Octobetb 1945 (BIRLS).

Clifford LeRoy Maxfield married VERLA MAURER at Watsonville, Santa Cruz County, California, in 1943 (Clysta Jones). Verla was born at Sumner, Bremer County, Iowa, on 2 June 1921 (SSDI, obit). After 1975 Clifford and Verla lived at Laurel, Marshall County, Iowa.

Verla (Maurer) Maxfield died at Des Moines, Iowa, on 22 June 1993. For her full obituary see below. Clifford LeRoy Maxfield died on 21 October 1996 (SSDI).

Obituary: Verla Maxfield, 72, of Laurel died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Evangelical Church, of which she was a member.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery near Laurel.
Mrs. Maxfield was born in Sumner and moved to Laurel in 1975 after living in the State Center and Albion areas nearly 30 years.
She was a teacher in Newton from 1968 to 1976.
Among survivors are her husband, Clifford; a son, Lee of Atlanta; three daughters, Lois Dowdy of Waycross, Ga., Clysta Jones of Brookfield, Mo., and Carol Tressler of Bottineau, N.D.; her stepmother, Rose Maurer of Fayette; a brother, Vaylard Maurer of Waterloo; a stepsister, Isabelle Severson of Belle Plain; two sisters, Elinor Hebrank of Dundee and Evelyn Hart of California; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. . . .
