Thelma E. Maxfield, 90, of Boise, died on Oct. 8, 1998 at a Boise care center. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998 at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 2626 S. Gekeler Lane. Burial will follow at Morris Hill Cemetery. . . .
Thelma was born on July 27, 1908 at Battle Mountain, Nev., the daughter of Edward G. and Jennie Sarah Whipple Croker. She attended Meridian and Boise schools. She married Day C. Maxfield on March 13, 1926 and they made their home in Boise. During World War II, while raising three teenage daughters, she cooked many delicious meals for many GI's. She enjoyed raising a garden, canning and sewing. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She always had a positive attitude, even during difficult and trying times, and was an inspiration to everyone. Her positive attitude will continue to live on as a legacy to her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church for over 70 years and was a member of the church choir, and a Sunday School teacher. She was a lifelong member of T.O.P.S. and was active in different women's service groups.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara and her husband, Ted Maurer of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Ruth Croker of Boise; son-in-law, Tom McGee of Boise; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased in death by her parents; husband, Day C. Maxfield; daughters, Beverly McGee and Bernadine Bachman; son, Don Maxfield; a brother, Fremont Crocker; and one great-granddaughter.
