Tenth Generation

WILLIAM WALLACE10 MAXFIELD (William9, Adolphus8, William7, James6, William5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Abbeville, Vermillion Parish, Louisiana, on 17 May 1896 (WWI Draft), a child of William Wallace Maxfield and his wife Stella Dee Moss.

William Wallace Maxfield married ALICE W. ROBICHEUX probably early in 1917. Alice was born at New Iberia, Louisiana about 1895 (1920 census). William registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 (WWI Draft) and reported the following:

William Wallace Maxfield, 21, 422 Miller Ave., Lake Charles, LA
b. May 17, 1896, native, Abbeville, LA
mechanic (auto) for Boleu Garage Co., Lake Charles
dep: wife; married, white; exemption claimed: wife pregnant
medium height, slender, dark gray eyes, black hair
The 1920 census reported William Wallace Maxfield twice, once with his mother, and also with his own family at South Street, Welsh, Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana (616:1A):

William Wallace and Alice must have divorced some time before 1928, as Wallace Maxfield married NETTIE (________) WILLIAMS at Ouachita County, Arkansas, on 16 September 1928 (AR M).

The 1930 census reported Alice at Louise Home, on 1404 Clio Street, New Orleans, and the two boys "inmates" at a school at Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. I find no record of William Wallace Maxfield in that census. The Louise Home was a Catholic charitable home for working girls. Alice Maxfield was reported as follows (801:4A):
