This record also indicated that Joel and Ellen had been married 31 years, and that Ellen had eleven children, eight of whom were still living. As the two older children mentioned in the 1880 census were still living, the three that died are unknown to this researcher.
Ellen died before the 1910 census (1175:1:112A), when widower Joel Maxfield was living at Cleveland with his daughter Mary and son-in-law William Deegan:

The record also listied five Deegan children, indicated that William and Mary had been married 18 years, and Mary had six children, five of whom were living. William came to the United States in 1871 and was a naturalized citizen.
Joel Maxfield died at Lake County, Ohio on 30 May 1916 (Oh D).
