MABEL MORTON married Abner Ralph Maxfield at Waterville, Maine, on 16 May 1884 (Smart). Mabel was born at Thorndike, Maine, about 1862/3, according to her child's birth record. She died on 5 March 1892 (NMGR 8:21).

Abner Ralph Maxfield married as his second wife NELLIE STRAW HUSSEY in Maine on 29 October 1892 (VR Me M). They were both from Guilford, Maine. Nellie was born in Maine on 23 December 1872 (NMGR 8:21).

The 1900 census (598:2:289A) reported Ralph A. Maxfield, his second wife, and children from both marriages, living on Water Street in Guilford, Maine:

The record further indicated that Ralph and Nellie had been married seven years, and that Nellie had one child, who lived.

The 1910 Census (545:2:3A) found this family at Abbott, Piscataquis County, Maine:

Ralph and Nellie had been married sixteen years; Nellie had three children, all living.

The 1920 census (647:6B) reported this evolving family on Water Street in Guilford:

The 1930 census reported Ralph and Nellie on High Street, Guilford. Only John R. remained at home. Ralph, age 65, and Nellie, age 57, were both still working in a woolen mill. John, age 18, was a laborer at the telephone office.
