ALTON ALEXANDER9 MAXFIELD (Leon8, Montraville7, Nathan6, probably Eliphalet5, David4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at New York on 13 August 1886 (WWI Draft; Southville Cem), a chuild of Leon Montrail Maxfield and his wife Eunice Elvira Bradley. Alton married THODA TAYLOR about 1907/8 (1930 Census). Thoda was born at New York about 1887 (Southville Cem), a child of George W. and Alzina Taylor.

The 1910 Census (1075:1B) reported this family living on the Harrison-Crary Mills Road, Pierrepont Town, Saint Lawrence County, New York. Alton Maxfield, 25, worked as a laborer in a butter factory. His wife, Thoda, 24, had given borth to one child, who was living. Their son, Raymonf R. Maxfield, was three years old. Alton and Thoda had been married four years.

Alton Maxfield's draft registration (WWI Draft) reported a new residence and a new occupation:
