SAMUEL ASA7 MAXFIELD (Asa6, Nathan5, Nathaniel4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Exeter, Maine, on 12 November 1834 (NMGR 7:92), a child of Asa Maxfield and his wife Delisha Eldridge.

The 1860 Census (446:) reported Samuel A. Maxfield, 25, farmer, at Exeter, Penobscot County, Maine. The family included Frances E. Maxfield, 20, and Byron Maxfield, eight months.

Samuel A. Maxfield married FRANCES E. BRACKETT at Boston, Massachusetts, on 24 January 1866 (VR Ma 191:4:71). The event was recorded as follows:

Frances E. Bracket of Levant, Me., 25, b. Hermon, Me to George and Eleanor B., 1st;

Frances E. Brackett was born at Hermon, Maine, on 18 June 1840 (VR Bangor D), to George Bracket and his wife Eleanor Kelley. Samuel Maxfield was a farmer in Levant, Maine.

Frances (Brackett) Maxfield died at Bangor on 23 February 1890 (VR Bangor D).

Samuel A. Maxfield married, as his second wife, LIZZIE M. JORDAN, at Bangor on 5 December 1894 (VR Me M 1892-1996). They were both from Bangor. Lizzie was born at Maine in January 1869 (1900 Census).

The 1900 Census (597:1:119) reported Samuel Maxfield, born December 1834, a wool factory worker, and his wife Lizzie J. Maxfield, born January 1869, living at 18 West Broad Way, Bangor. Lizzie had no children. Her sister, Martha H. Jordan, a seamstress born in August 1874, lived with them.

Sam A. Maxfield, wool merchant, died at Chesuncook Lake, Piscataquis County, Maine, on 13 October 1903 (VR ME 1892-1907).

Samuel A. Maxfield and his first wife Frances had the following children:
