Butler Maxfield married ANN L. CURTIS about 1888/9. Ann was born at Canada about March 1864 (1900 Census). She came to the United States about 1880. Based on the births of their children, they must have moved to South Dakota, where their first child was born in November 1889. By September 1891 they were back in Potsdam, New York, where there second child, and all the later children were born. The 1900 Census (1158:7B) reported them at 24 Waverly Street, Potsdam:

This census record provides us with much additional information. Butler and Anna had been married eleven years. Anna had given birth to four children, all of whom were living. Anna came to the United States in 1880.
Butler and Anna's fifth child was born at Potsdam in 1902. However by 1910 they had moved to Millbank, Grant County, South Dakota, where the census (1480:11B) reported them on Sixth Street:

This document also stated that Butler and Annie had been married 21 years, and Annie had given birth to five children, all of whom were living.
Butler G. Maxfield died at Hennepin County, Minnesota, on 1 January 1918 (MN D). He was buried at Millbank, South Dakota.
The 1920 Census (1719:12A) reported Annie Maxfield on Niola Street, Millbank, South Dakota. With her were two sons, Howard, who was working out as a plumber, and Lyle. In 1930 (2223:4A) Annie Maxfield, 65, was living at 606 Viola Street, Millbank, with her brother, Joseph Curtis, age 69, single, retired. The 1940 Census (3856:1B) reported Annie Maxfield, 75, and her brother Joseph Curtis, 68, at 411 South Sixth Street, Millbank. Annie died in 1956 (Millbank Cem)
