JEREMIAH WINTER8 MAXFIELD (John7, Nathaniel6, Eliphalet5, Nathaniel4, Eliphalet3, Nathaniel2, John1) was born at Saxon, Stark County, Illinois, on 10 November 1851 (NMGR 7:93), a child of John Arnold Maxfield and his wife Jane Winter.

Jeremiah Maxfield married ELIZABETH A. THOMPSON at Stark County on 25 December 1872 (IL M). Elizabeth was born at Pennsylvania on December 1852 (1900 Census). Jeremiah and Lizzie Maxfield farmed near Hastings, Nebraska (NMGR 7:93).

The 1880 Census (52:277:16:5 soundex) found this family at Goshen, Stark County, Illinois, consistion of J. W. Maxfield, his wife Elizabeth, age 27, born in Pennsylvania, and children Lydia E., age 5, Leroy, age 3, and Earl, age 11 months.

The Nebraska Census in 1885 (NE Census 1885) reported the family in Highland Township, Adams County, Nebraska, consisting of J. W., 32, Eliza, 31, Leda, 11, Leroy, 8, Robert, 5, and Clyde, 4. All were born in Illinois except Eliza, born in Pennsylvaina, and Clyde, born in Nebraska.

The 1900 Census (916:1:143) reported this family at Highland Township, Adams County, Nebraska:

The 1910 Census (838:1B) reported Jeremiah Maxfield, 58, and his wife Elizabeth, 57, at Highland Township. Jeremiah was engaged in farming; Elizabeth had six children, all living. The household included son Floyd, age 16, and brother-in-law George Thompson, age 38, a house carpenter.

The 1920 Census (979:4B) reported Jeremiah W. Maxfield, age 68, and his wife Elizabeth A, age 67, still at Highland Township. Jeremiah was engaged in general farming. Elizabeth's brother, George R. Thompson, a carpenter age 57, was living with them.

Jeremiah Maxfield died at Hastings on 10 January 1925 (NMGR 7:93). Lizzie died there on 6 January 1927 (NMGR 7:93).
